I have gained assessment skills in several situations where I must use the general outline for taking general information about a patient to determine the next step in the care process. In Clinic Vols, I use the assessment skills such as the patient's chief complaint, appearance, and history to determine how to care for that child. On the Jamaica trip, I assessed patients to gather information, such as family history, current medications, visual acuity, age, and noticeable problems, to pass on to the optometrist for treatment. In lifeguarding, I use assessment skills to determine plan of action in emergency situations and in caring for first aid. More detailed analyses are listed below.
