Clinic Vols

The University of Tennessee has a very unique and excellent activity called Clinic Vols. In this, undergraduate students are trained in American Red Cross School Health and actually perform the duty of a school nurse in a local, understaffed elementary school. I had a wonderful experience with providing medical help to young children when they are injured or sick. I gained experience with performing a patient assessment when children enter the clinic. This was a very eye opening experience for me and has helped me along my decision making process. I enjoyed the work and got satisfaction out of hleping a child to feel better.
